EXO Members Share Thoughts On Their Successful Concert Tour
EXO finally returned to Korea to wrap up their successful world tour. On May 27 and 28, EXO held 2-day encore concerts for their EXO'rDIUM tour at the Seoul Olympic Stadium, the biggest concert venue in the country. Also known as Jamsil Stadium or Seoul World Cup Stadium, the venue has a capacity of 50,000 people. Back in 2015, EXO also held a concert at Gocheok SkyDome, which can hold an audience of 20,000. EXO will be the first idol group to perform a solo concert at the Seoul Olympic Stadium since older generation idol groups JYJ, GOD, and H.O.T.
Over 35,000 fans flocked to the concert each night for the encore concerts, with a total of 70,000 people all in all. Tickets were sold out and EXO fans from all over the world flew to the country to see the boys do their last show for the tour. EXO'rDIUM, the group's third world tour, kicked off in July of last year at the Seoul Olympic Park Gymnastics Stadium and gathered over 84,000 fans during the course of their 6-day concert. EXO went on to 17 cities around the world including Mexico, Bangkok, LA, and Kuala Lumpur to hold 37 concerts and attract over 600,000 fans. Since their first ever solo concert in 2014, they have held 111 concerts in total, attended by around 1.6 million fans all in all. Wow!
During a press conference before their May 28 concert, EXO shared what they felt about performing at the Seoul Olympic Stadium. Kai said, "Just being able to hold our concert here is a great honor. We will do our best," with leader Suho adding, "It's an honor to be performing on the same stage as groups like H.O.T, GOD, and Shinhwa. We will show you the greatest performance we've ever given."
Xiumin also stated, "We're so happy to be greeting our Korean fans for the first time in a while. We actually performed in this venue for an 'SMTOWN' concert in our early days, and back then, I wondered if we'd ever been able to perform a solo concert here. And here we are." EXO also announced during their final concert that they are making a comeback this summer, which excited fans. What could be their next concept?
