Korean model and actor Kim Woo Bin has just been diagnosed with a rare form of throat cancer called nasapharyngeal cancer, shocking his fans. Sidus HQ, his management announced the news.
According to a report by Popcrush, the 27-year-old "The Heirs" actor learned about his illness after going for a check-up because he was feeling unwell. Upon learning of the diagnosis, Kim Woo Bin immediately began drug and radiation treatment for his condition.
Nasapharyngeal cancer is a rare form of cancer that targets the upper part of the throat and the nasal area. According to Sidus HQ, Kim Woo Bin's cancer was diagnosed at an early stage giving him a better chance at getting better.
His girlfriend, "Tomorrow with You" star Shin Min Ah has also issued a statement regarding the matter. The actress said that she will be helping Woo Bin as he gets his treatment so he could get better, Soompi reported.
It was earlier reported that Kim Woo Bin was supposed to begin filming for the moie "Wiretap" under the direction of "The Thieves" and "Assasination" director Choi Dong Hoon. However, the production company has expressed that they are willing to push back the filming schedule to give priority to Kim Woo Bin's cancer treatment.
"We heard about the truth of Kim Woo Bin's illness. We are planning to push back filming because Kim Woo Bin's health is more important than filming for the movie," said a production insider for "Wiretap." "We hope he recovers soon."
Kim Woo Bin's fans are also posting their well wishes and prayers on social media upon learning of the actor's condition. Many of his fans are also rallying behind Shin Min Ah for being very supportive of her boyfriend in his time of need. Kim Woo Bin and Shin Min Ah started dating after they got close for a Giordano campaign in 2015. The couple kept a relatively low profile about their dating but eventually admitted to the relationship.
