The South Korean girl group SISTAR surprised avid fans when the quartet announced its disbandment plans. Following the shocking news, the Kpop band unveiled a touching video tribute that contained a special message to their loyal followers.

SISTAR recently joined the list of Kpop groups that disbanded after several years of working together in the South Korean entertainment industry. Band members Hyolyn, Bora, Soyou, and Dasom will be going their separate ways and embarking on their respective new careers.

A Kpop industry expert told Yonhap News that the four Kpop singers already shared their future plans with their agency in an earlier discussion. Starship Entertainment also agreed to respect the said musicians' decision to end SISTAR's seven-year partnership.

Moreover, given the impending end of the K-pop group's contract with the said entertainment firm, SISTAR's decision to disband and start new careers would be a timely move. Speculations are rife that Soyou and Hyolyn may opt to sign new contracts with Starship Entertainment as solo artists, while Dasom and Bora might each consider an acting career.

Shortly after news of SISTAR's disbandment, the Kpop group unveiled a special video tribute for their fans. Released by Starship Entertainment on social media, the 51-second clip contained various images of the four singers on the beach or relaxing inside a cozy room and other locations, as well as an acrostic poem following letters of the band's name.

SISTAR's special message read, "See you again. It's not goodbye. Separate ways we may go. To achieve new dreams. All the memories together. Remember and cherish forever."

Meanwhile, in a statement released by SISTAR's agency, as obtained by Korea Herald, Starship Entertainment conveyed its appreciation for the K-pop group's dedication and hard work for the past seven years. The agency also stated that they were proud of the band's four artists namely Hyolyn, Bora, Soyou, and Dasom.

SISTAR debuted in 2010 and is known for their summer hits such as "Loving You," "So Cool" and more. The four-member Kpop group is set to unveil their final track "Lonely" on May 31.
