Tom Hardy Cast As Venom in A New Spiderman Spinoff
May 20th, 2017: Sony recently announced a spinoff movie revolving around one of Spiderman's most prominent villains, the Venom. It appears that the studio is not wasting any time as the movie is set to release on the 5th October 2018.
The studio has reportedly got hold of the acclaimed actor Tom Hardy to play the role of Venom. Tom hardy was nominated for an Oscar, owing to his stellar work in the Revenant. The studio is also in talks with Ruben Fleischer for directing the Spiderman spin-off. Ruben Fleischer is best known for directing the popular movie Zombieland, and according to latest reports, Sony is in the final stages of negotiation with him.
Sony plans on emulating the success received by Marvel and hence plans on rebooting Spider-man through Spiderman Homecoming this summer. The studio is supposedly planning various Spiderman spinoffs and the Venom sits right on top of them.
Sony is also developing a Silversable and Black Cat movie. The movie is reportedly being written by 'Thor' writer, Chris Yost. Scott Rosenberg and Jeff Pinkner are responsible for creating the script of Venom. Jeff Pinkner has worked on the Amazing Spider-Man 2 as well and plans to bring the same spunk back to Venom.
The production for the movie reportedly starts this fall and Tom Hardy is eager to star is Venom. The actor has already played a DC universe supervillain before, Bane in the Dark Knight Rises. After the news of the casting broke out, Sony pictures shared a photo of Tom Hardy getting into the Venom Spirit.
