Kurt Cobain’s Green Cardigan Up For Auction; Event Announced For November 7

Kurt Cobain's memorable green cardigan on MTV Unplugged's Nirvana episode in 1993 is up for sale at Julien's  Auction live on Nov. 7, according to Rolling Stone.

Cobain's Manhattan sweater "is a blend of acrylic, mohair and Lycra with five-button closure (one button absent), with two exterior pockets, a burn hole and discoloration near left pocket and discoloration on right pocket, size medium," as posted on Julie's Auction.

The sweater was from a close friend of the Cobain family, and the winning bidder will receive a signed letter of provenance and authenticity from the family friend, NY Daily News reported.

Kurt Cobain's lock of hair given by Courtney Love to Dame Darcy, a comic artist and doll maker; is also being auctioned with the bid starting at $4,000. Love ordered a doll for her daughter Frances Bean, and the lock that is being sold is the leftover.

A gold record award for "In Utero," and platinum record award for "Nevermind" are other Nirvana items being sold, according to sources.

There are other big-ticket items up for grabs. One would be the drumhead used on Ringo Starr's kit during the Beatles' 1964 debut on "The Ed Sullivan Show". This was also used at the Beatle's first concert in the United States at the Washington Coliseum.

Another item featured in the auction would be John Lennon's long-lost acoustic guitar, a Gibson J-160E, according to Rolling Stone. This guitar's starting bid is at $300,000. It was used to record and compose early Beatles hits like, "Please Please Me" and "Love Me Do."

Other rare items include Michael Jackson's fang mold for the video "Thriller," Elvis Presley's "It Happened At The World Fair" boots and his 24 karat gold leaf grand piano, along with a B.B. King autographed Gibson Lucille Electric Guitar.  

The Icons and Idols 2015: Rock n' Roll auction will feature nearly 350 rock-related items; Things from Kurt Cobain, Ringo Star, Paul McCartney, Madonna, Britney Spears, to Niall Horan.

Julien's Action block go live on Nov. 7, 10 a.m., pacific standard time.
