'Game Of Thrones' Spinoff News & Update: George RR Martin Shares Important Details On Future Of Series
New "Game Of Thrones" Spinoff update reveals that there might not be four new series additions after all, there might not even be any familiar recurring characters as well. The "A Song of Ice and Fire" author revealed some important details on his blog, regarding the much-anticipated "Game Of Thrones" successor.
According to Polygon, Martin gave a significant "Game Of Thrones" spinoff update stating that none of the upcoming new HBO shows will be branching from the series in a "traditional sense." The "Game Of Thrones" author was referring to the fact that none of the fan-favorite characters such as Jon Snow or Daenerys, will be making an appearance in the spinoff.
In fact, some of the upcoming shows might not even take place in Westeros at all. However, the "Game Of Thrones" author did hint that the new show will be a prequel to the series instead, or what he likes to refer as a "successor show." The initial "Game Of Thrones" spinoff update revealed that HBO was already preparing at least four pilot scripts for the new show.
Martin even revealed that there will be another script to be announced soon, written by someone that the author considers as a "really terrific addition" and someone who loves Westeros just as much as he does. This brings the total "Game Of Thrones" spinoff scripts to five.
Despite that seemingly large volume, this does not mean that there would be four new successor shows after the conclusion of "Game Of Thrones." According to Martin's blog, it simply means that HBO will be looking into these script pilots and they will decide how they will proceed from there.
Although it might still be too early to count out the possibility of 3 or 4 spinoffs, the "Game Of Thrones" author remains skeptical until then. Martin shared that his experience in the industry taught him that nothing is certain, so he believes there wouldn't be that many spinoffs that would actually materialize.
Regardless, the author's revelation confirms that the series will truly move on from the characters that fans have come to love. Fans might not see some familiar faces, but exploring new horizons in Martin's epic lore could prove to be a breath of fresh air. Even if that's the case, the "Game Of Thrones" spinoff update gives fans some high expectations for the successor of the series specially considering the amount of talented writers involved.
