Stephen Curry Drives to the Basket As Golden State Warriors Go Against New Orleans Pelicans

Golden State Warriors' Stephen Curry is on a scoring spree, netting 53 points in a win over the New Orleans Pelicans, according to Yahoo! Sports.

The defending champions remain undefeated in their first three games. Curry, meanwhile, totaled 118 points in that three-game stretch, the most since Michael Jordan's 118 in 1989.

Curry is the league's reigning MVP, and in all the games he's played in the conference so far, his stats look the part. The Warriors' season opener saw the speedy point guard sink 24 points in just the first quarter, totaling 40 points throughout the contest.

In their third game, Curry's streak hit during the third quarter, outscoring the opponent by himself, 28-26. He finished the game with 53, but he was resting for most of the fourth quarter.

Curry's career high was 54 in a loss to the Knicks back in 2013, as reported by NBC Sports. The Golden State Warriors and Stephen Curry were a lot different back then; the team has added several key pieces that culminated in a successful championship run two years after.

Curry, on the other hand, has evolved from a one-dimensional shooter to an all-around scorer and facilitator. His MVP win last year was unanimous, but runner-up James Harden believed that he deserved the title, in an interview with NBA.com.

Unfortunately for Harden, Curry is playing like he is on a mission to defend his crown. The Warrior's second win of the season came at the expense of Harden's Rockets. Curry outscored Harden 25 to 16, helping his team to an easy win with additional seven rebounds and six assists, as reported by Yahoo! Sports.

The Houston Rockets are already in a 0-3 hole, with marquee center Dwight Howard taking it easy because of various ailments. If their rematch with the Warriors is the basis of who has the true MVP, Golden State Warriors' Stephen Curry takes this one by a mile. With the way he is playing right now, the NBA is no doubt Stephen Curry's league, according to ESPN.
