'Guardians Of The Galaxy 2' Cast Mate Shares How 'Spider-Man' Franchise Could Be Revived
A "Guardians Of The Galaxy 2" cast mate gave his thoughts about the future of the "Spider-Man" franchise and where he thinks it should head towards. Dave Bautista, the actor who plays Drax in the recent "Guardians" flick, is loving how the new Spider-Man is turning out.
However, the "Guardians Of The Galaxy 2" cast member believes that Spidey won't be able to reach his full potential in films if he's not fully in Marvel's hands. According to TheGuardian, Bautista revealed that he believes Marvel's recent involvement with the "Spider-Man" franchise was the reason the series became "so true to the comics."
The former wrestling superstar also believes that Marvel will eventually "reacquire Spider-Man" from Sony's clutches. Sony had rights to the "Spider-Man" franchise for quite some time thus preventing Marvel's involvement in the series. Regardless, the "Guardians Of The Galaxy 2" cast mate has high expectations for the upcoming "Spider-Man: Homecoming" film.
The Marvel Cinematic Universe revitalized Spidey's popularity ever since his cameo appearance in "Captain America: Civil War." It's easy to see why Bautista would think giving the "Spider-Man" film rights back to Marvel would be the best option. After all, Sony did have difficulties in figuring out what's next after "The Amazing Spider-Man."
Fortunately, MCU eventually made a deal with Sony which led to Spidey's insertion to the Avengers team. This also creates a wealth of promising scenarios where Spider-Man could appear alongside the avengers or even the "Guardians of The Galaxy 2" cast.
While the web-crawler's future in the MCU looks bright, let's not forget about the upcoming "Spider-Man: Homecoming" movie. According to Metro, the upcoming Spider-Man films will focus on Peter Parker's school life each year resembling a "Harry Potter style" sequence. Regardless, Marvel's involvement will definitely play a big factor in making the "Spider-Man" films as authentic to the source material as possible, something that Bautista is eagerly rooting for.
