Prince William Fights For Wildlife Conservation; Tusk Trust Organizarion Fight Illegal Trade
Prince William has a passion for wildlife conservation, just like his grandfather The Duke of Edinburgh, and his father The Prince of Wales, according to People.
It is known that the Duke of Cambridge has discussed this issue with Chinese President Xi Jinping during his four-day State Visit to Britain recently.
The Chinese President was greeted with a 103 gun salute to indicate his arrival in London last month. Also, a state banquet was held at Buckingham Palace.
William has met with President Barack Obama and President Xi within the past 12 months, and the two governments created a joint statement supporting the ban on importing ivory.
"He's encouraged by the fact that the Chinese leadership has been very willing to engage in this issue," says Charlie Mayhew to People. "That's the impotant thing."
Mayhew is Tusk Trust's chief executive. Tusk Trust is an organization that works to protect endangered species in Africa; such as giant sable, cheetah, rhinos and elephants. They also help marine species. The prince has been a long time partner of this organization.
On the eve of the Chinese President's visit, Prince William directed a speech to the hundreds of millions of consumers; appealing to the public to support conserving wildlife.
"At this rate, children born this year, like my daughter Charlotte, will see the last wild elephants and rhinos die before their 25th birthdays," said the Duke of Cambridge.
Earlier this year, William gave a similar speech at the twenty fifth anniversary of Tusk Trust. He reminded the world to take action against the slaughter of animals for their body parts, revealed Mail Online.
The Duke of Cambridge shared that the plunder and destruction in the African wildlife remains to be one of the greatest challenges that faces our world; pointing out that it grows worse by the week.
"I'm in no doubt that the Duke's role in highlighting and engaging President Obama and President Xi Jinping personally on this issue has contributed greatly to the statement from China that they intend to close down the ivory trade." added Charlie Mayhew on Prince William's contribution to wildlife conservation.
The chief executive added that the Duke has contributed greatly and played a very big role in bringing light to this issue.
