Getting an invite to the Billboard Music Awards from the event president himself seems not to be enough to devoted members of the BTS' ARMY fandom. Now the group is requesting for the K-pop superstar group to have a performance in the awards ceremony as well.

The ARMY's petition addressed to Dick Clark Productions, the unit in charge of organizing the Billboard Music Awards, seeks to include BTS in the line-up of artists who will perform at the prestigious music show. Based on the petition, which has surpassed its 100,000 signatures goal and is well on its way to reaching the 150,000 signatures mark, they want BTS to showcase their music and prove to the western audience that even though their music is in another language, it is just as good as  the material coming to the US and other parts of the world.

"A goal of ARMY, BTS's fandom, is to try to give western people more exposure to Asian culture and pop culture, in efforts to try and end some prejudices towards Asians," the petition read. It further explained that BTS' music which touches on real life issues and experiences of the youth such as depression, suicide and other sensitive topics that are considered taboo in most cultures, needs a platform like the BMAs to bridge the cultural gap between the East and the West.

It can be recalled that BTS has been making headway in making a name for itself in North and South America as it consistently retains the top spot in international charts. In particular, it has stayed on the Billboard Music Awards Top 50 chart for longer like music superstars Miley Cyrus and Rihanna by maintaining its position for 22 weeks. Its performance makes BTS the best performing music group on the charts and overall trails only Justin Bieber and Taylor Swift for most number of weeks on the Billboard chart, Korea Portal reported.
