Microsoft Surface Laptop News: Newest Surface Device Sports Two USB-C Ports?
During Microsoft's press conference last May 2, the tech-company officially launched the newest product among its Surface devices, the Surface Laptop. Intended for students use, the Microsoft Surface Laptop could be a potential rival of the Apple MacBook. In a video posted on YouTube, a prototype of the upcoming device was seen equipped with two USB-C ports.
Unfortunately, though the prototype in the video suggested that Microsoft will be including the new type of port, the Surface Laptop will still be equipped with the older version. Today's trend among devices is the spreading use of the USB-C Port, so it is highly expected for Microsoft's laptop to adapt the same technology for future-proofing.
However, during this week's press conference, Microsoft unveiled the Surface Laptop with no changes on its USB port. According to the company, the absence of a USB-C port is a result of lack of maturity of the said port type since there exists several problems with power and cable, The Verge reported. Despite this, a lot of significant improvements and upgrades were seen.
The Surface Laptop is considered as a potential MacBook rival because of its superb display resolution, light weight feature and longer battery life. The Surface Laptop starts with $999 as its base price equipped with an Intel Core i5 CPU, a 4 GB RAM and a 128 GB SSD, PC World reported.
The publication noted that the Microsoft Surface Laptop is targeting students who are style-conscious and MacBook-Air lovers. Aside from aiming to compete Apple's MacBook, the Surface Pro is the first device installed with Microsoft's newest operating system, the Windows 10 S. Aspiring owners can already pre-order the item now which will begin shipping by June 15.
