Sam Sarpong Dead At 40; Suicide Predetermined Cause Of Death?
British born, Sam Sarpong has died after jumping off the Colorado Street Bridge in Pasadena, Calif. He was 40 years old, reports Independent.
Sam grew up with equally famous sister June Sarpong in Leytonstone, East London. They moved to the United States when their Ghanaian parents called it quits when he was 11 years old.
June Sarpong is a known TV presenter and one of the stars of the show "Loose Women" in the UK.
"I love my brother very much. Sam was an amazing human being. His passing is a loss for the world." said June Sarpong, paying tribute to her brother. "I'd ask anyone who is going through tough times to seek help. Please talk to someone."
Pasadena law enforcers said that Sarpong was spotted by a member of the public who then called the police. He was standing on the ledge of the bridge at that time.
Negotiators allegedly spent seven hours trying to convince the TV star to step down from the 150-foot ledge. The Los Angeles County coroner's office said that the official cause of death will be known when the result of the toxicology test comes out, according to ES.
Sam Sarpong was a musician, actor, and super model. He is seen in 55 television shows, and 60 feature films. He is well known for his hosting at MTV's "Yo Momma", a youth comedy show which ran for three seasons.
Sarpong also modeled for giants in the fashion world; he worked for Tommy Hilfiger, Versace, Donna Karan, Dolce and Gabbana, and Gucci. Also, he was the first black model for Louis Vuitton.
Sam won Male Model Of The Year at the MAA Fashion Award, and was part of Today's Black Woman magazine's Fifty Most Beautiful People.
"You just left us too early Sam. We will miss you and pray for you," wrote Wilmer Valderrama on Instagram; Sam Sarpong's "Yo Momma" co-star.
