Samsung Secures WFA, FCC Certification For Yet Unannounced Tizen-Based Z4 Smartphone

The yet unannounced Tizen-based Samsung smartphone believed to be the upcoming Z4 has just received it's Wi-Fi Alliance (WFA) certification. The smartphone, identified by its model number SM-Z400F/DS has also been approved by the US Federal Communications Commission (FCC).

According to a report by Android Headlines, the Samsung Z4 will be a dual-sim model based on the DS component of its model number. It is believed that the upcoming smartphone will have a pre-installed Tizen 3.0. IT is also expected to be powered by a 2,050 mAh battery.

Based on the FCC listing of the Samsung Z4, has will also be 132.9 mm long and 699.2 mm in width. The WFA listing for the device, on the other hand, did not include much detail in terms of the smartphone's specs except that it will have support for Wi-Fi b/g/n (2.4GHz) as well as Wifi Direct. The phone is also expected to feature 4G LTE, Bluetooth 4.0 LE and GPS which is the current standard for connectivity.

Meanwhile, a report by Phone Arena cited rumors that with the arrival of the Samsung Z4, the price of its predecessor, which was released way back in October 2015, will be reduced from $132.50 to $101.43. The Samsung Z3's features include a 5-inch display with a 720 x 1280 HD resolution. It runs on a quad-core 1.3GHz CPU and the Mali-T400 GPU. In terms of storage, the phone has 1GB of RAM and 8GB of built-in storage. It has a longer battery life as it is powered by a 2600mAh battery, and has an earlier version of Tizen 2.3 is pre-installed.

There is much excitement surrounding the release date of Samsung Z4 which Samsung is still keeping close to its chest up until now as it marks Samsung's shift from Google's Android OS to its self-developed Tizen. Samsung earlier launched the use of Tizen on its Samsung Gear smartwatches and is now seeking to use it full scale on its smartphone lines.
