A gamer with a headphone plays the video game 'Overwatch' developed by Blizzard Entertainment and published by Action Blizzard during the 'Paris Games Week' on October 28, 2016 in Paris, France.

It looks like the recent update of “Overwatch” includes a decrease of rewards to players who act as healers in the game. Many players have voiced out their concern online, saying how the game has punished them for being healing characters. This made quality assurance lead of “Overwatch” explain what exactly happened.

The rants of numerous “Overwatch” players have been circulating online and it discusses how the game is punishing them for being healing characters. One player shared how he and his friend teamed up in a match wherein one acted as a Mercy and the other as a Soldier: 76. After winning five times and losing twice, one got 106 points equivalent to 35 points each win while the other only received 55 points or 18 points per win.

Another player claims “Overwatch” altered the “On-Fire” system and “ninja-nerfing” assists so the gauge of the mercy is only influenced by Resurrection, ultimate ability, and none of the healing works. The player said this happened even the ability was used twice within 10 minutes. They were not at all happy how the game punishes them for doing great as a healer.

Reports regarding this issue have been ongoing for a month now according to reports. So “Overwatch” Max Thompson, quality assurance lead, has finally replied and said he couldn’t really go into details about the changes in the system but he confirms that there really was changes. He encourages players to continue posting their feedback and explain their situation.

Some speculate that Blizzard implemented the changes to discourage Mercy players from hoarding the ultimates and use it properly. However, fans are not happy, especially since it destroys the competitive gameplay of “Overwatch”. Although Blizzard has not directly answered why the changes have been made, its good to know that they are considering what the player’s think which will, hopefully, affect future changes in the game.
