The Microsoft Surface Pro 5 has re-entered the rumor mill and it has been revealed that there will be nothing dramatic about the next-generation device. The tablet will still be a lot like its predecessor, although the much needed internal upgrades will still be on the table. These info all came from the well-known Microsoft watcher Paul Thurrot.

Thurrot also revealed that the company will not replace the Surface Pro 5's proprietary Surface power connector. Nevertheless, it has been mentioned that Microsoft will use Intel's latest generation of processors dubbed as Kaby Lake, Forbes reported. With the current Surface Pro being almost two years old, some fans may expect that the upcoming Surface Pro 5 will come with a totally new look. However, it was revealed that Microsoft will still retain the current design for the Surface Pro 5.

Apparently, the company is expected to maintain the compatibility of its accessories from the past Surface Pros to the Surface Pro 5. This includes the Type Cover. Nevertheless, the lack of design change does not mean that the Pro 5 won't come with new features. Among other things, the device could also come with USB Type C ports, Neowin reported.

As far as the Surface Pro 5 release date is concerned, current rumors point to Microsoft's alleged hardware event that is happening in a few weeks' time. As for the Surface Book 2 on the other hand, watchers believe that Microsoft is still far away from its release. The revamped Surface Book called Surface Book with Performance Base was just released a few months ago. It has also just started accepting pre-orders in thirteen new markets so it could take some time before an all-new Surface laptop model would enter the market. This means that the company could only have the Surface Pro 5 prepared for an imminent launch. There are rumors about a new Microsoft phone, but there has never been any concrete proof that it is likewise coming next.
