Google just updated its search engine with a fact check feature across the world. The tech giant wanted to purify its results by filtering fake news and it seems the best move by the company. This feature will help users to check the authority of the news by different sources.

Google has decided to highlight the authoritative sources in search results with a summary of claims that have been fact-checked, as reported by BBC. Previously Google has launched this feature in only two regions, US and UK, but today, the fact check feature is rolling across the world. It seems that the search giant is following the footstep of social media giant to stop spreading fake news.

Facebook has announced a campaign to help people spot fake news on Thursday. And now Google has joined the battle against fake news in order to provide only authentic news on its search engines. The Search giant clarified that the news will be judged authoritative by an algorithm and the company will not be fact-checking news stories itself.

In the fact check feature, a summary of fact-checked statements will also appear in the search engine. Although, the features will not affect the order of search results, but it will guide the search engine users to check out the sites with the more authentic news. Besides, the feature will also not label sites known to spread false information as an untrustworthy source.

Google will also check the status of different publishers who might draw opposing conclusions about the validity of a news story, but it stated that the feature would help people understand the degree of consensus on a topic. It is a not easy for Google search to tackle down the fake news especially on such large platform, but this initiative might help to provide the best-filtered search results and authentic news.
