Kendall Jenner And Kylie Jenner Clothing Line Sued For Copying Logo From Another Company?
Island Company, a Florida-based lifestyle retailer is suing Kendall Jenner and Kylie Jenner for allegedly copying the company's trademark logo for their clothing line with PacSun.
Kim Kardashian's half-sisters, Kendall and Kylie had a collection in collaboration with PacSun which displays a bunch of designs from t-shirts, denim dresses to off-shoulder tops. However, a certain t-shirt design is making a trend right now for copyright issues with the Island Company, who filed a lawsuit against the sisters, according to Refinery.
The company is claiming that the sisters and PacSun took their trademark phrase "Quit your job. Buy a ticket. Get a tan. Fall in love. Never return," after Kendall and Kylie designed a top with a similar line that says, "Run away. Fall in love. Never return," according to Page Six.
The Island Company stated in their case that Kylie Jenner and Kendall Jenner's version "is likely to cause confusion, mistake and deception among consumers, the public and the trade as to whether defendants' products or services are affiliated with, sponsored by or endorsed by plaintiff," according to the complaint attained by Page Six.
The phrase has been trademarked since 2005 by the Island Company and is best known for clothing staples of Johnny Depp, Cameron Diaz and Brad Pitt, reported on Daily Mail. They asked PacSun and the Jenner sisters to remove the design from the clothing line.
The sisters' goal is to bring the clothing line in all TopShop stores worldwide and wanted their fans to enjoy a piece of California in their closets, "We were thinking about the LA girl, who she is, what she loves to do and what her dream capsule wardrobe would be." Reported in You.co.za.
Neither, Kylie or Kendall Jenner has not issued an official statement in regards with the lawsuit of their clothing line. As of now, the t-shirt from the "Las Rebeldes" collection is currently unavailable on the PacSun's website, according to Refinery.
