‘Weightlifting Fairy Kim Bok Joo’ Actress Lee Sung Kyung Compared To Gigi Hadid By US Fashion Magazine
The South Korean entertainment industry has seen its share of models who were able to balance a career in fashion and acting such Lee Sung Kyung and more. Recently, the "Weightlifting Fairy Kim Bok Joo" actress was dubbed South Korea's Gigi Hadid, according to a U.S. fashion magazine.
Lee Sung Kyung started her career as a model before venturing into acting, as well as singing. Since her debut, the South Korean celebrity has appeared in various print ads, variety shows and dramas such as "Cheese in the Trap," "Doctors" and "Weightlifting Fairy Kim Bok Joo." The model-actress was even recently compared to the Hollywood celebrity and model Gigi Hadid.
In a recent article in the U.S. fashion magazine W, as cited by Korea Herald, the publication named Lee Sung Kyung as "South Korea's answer to Gigi Hadid." The "Weightlifting Fairy Kim Bok Joo" star was given the said title since her Instagram followers are nearly comparable to the said American model in terms of population percentage.
Lee Sung Kyung has more than 5.5 million followers on the said social media site or around 10 percent of South Korea's population, according to the same report. W magazine indicated that the said number is "proportionally right on par" with the said Victoria's Secret model's Instagram follower count.
In other news, Lee Sung Kyung has been busy completing filming requirements for magazine photo shoots. She recently traveled to Switzerland for an on-site location shoot for Grazia magazine's April issue. On the acting side, she has yet to identify whether her next project would be a TV series or a movie.
Meanwhile, Lee Sung Kyung was one of the actresses that showrunners initially tapped to play the lead role in the SBS drama "Be Careful of This Woman," now titled "Suspicious Partner." However, the actress declined the said casting offer. Recently, SBS announced that Nam Ji Hyun will portray the drama's female lead alongside "Healer" actor Ji Chang Wook, All Kpop reported.
