'Shooter' Season 2 Release In Summer This Year? Ryan Phillippe Coming Back To Show
Since it was confirmed that "Shooter" is renewed for a second season, fans are anticipating lead star Ryan Phillippe to be coming back to the show. Several speculations surfaced before that the drama may not return for a second season since the USA Network had a difficulty to air its premiere season in the beginning.
"Shooter" Season 1 supposed to be 10 episodes were cut to half, with USA Network being able to air only 5 episodes. Its premiere season was also delayed by four months when its initial release date in July 2016 was pushed back in November.
According to Deadline, "Shooter" averages 2.6 million total viewers and 974,000 adults from 18 to 49 in in Live+7 ratings where majority of its viewership are from live viewing. It runs behind "Suits" and "Royal Pains" as the most viewed show.
The same publication reported that NBC Universal Cable Entertainment President of Entertainment Networks Chris McCumber said he is looking forward to pairing up with Paramount Television is airing the show. McCumber added that "Shooter" showrunner John Halvin and his team was able to deliver an engaging TV series which earned the loyalty of its viewers.
Fans are already anticipating to see more of Phillippe and his Bob Lee Swagger sniper in the upcoming season. But the real question comes for its release date since season 1 was originally slated for a July release, the next season may likely air during this time.
"Shooter" is based on a best-selling novel entitled "Point of Impact" by Stephen Hunter, and the 2007 Paramount film where Mark Wahlberg starred. The series is starred by Ryan Phillippe who plays the role of Bob Lee, a former marine and sharp shooter who is trying to save his family's name. Wahlberg, who first played the role in 2007, is one of the major producers of the high-rating TV series, TV by the Numbers reported.
