"The Seven Deadly Sins" season 2 release date has been confirmed, and will be released sometime in 2016, according to Anime News Network. The announcement was made at the end of another anime, "The Heroic Legend of Arslan" last Sept. 26, 2015.

The first season of the "The Seven Deadly Sins" was released on Oct. 5, 2014, producing 24 episodes. By the end of the first season, only six of the Seven Deadly Sins characters were introduced. The seventh member could be introduced early in the season, even though he has yet to make an appearance in the manga.

The main story arc has been concluded at the end of the first, with Meliodas and his group victorious. If "The Seven Deadly Sins" season 2 follows the manga, viewers can expect a new group of enemies, collectively known as "The Ten Commandments." These are characters belonging to the Demon Clan, resurrected right after the end of the first season, according to TV Tropes.

If the anime remains faithful to the manga, fans are expecting an action-packed second season. Meliodas, the group's leader will finally get his full powers reinstated. The immortal Ban will go on a mission to resurrect the love of his life, and Escanor, the Lion's Sin of Pride may finally join the gang. Everyone will strive to level up their powers in order to face the demonic "Ten Commandments."

With a new story and the introduction of new characters, "The Seven Deadly Sins" season 2 can be as successful as the first. It has received mostly positive reviews, along with bagging the best shonen manga title in the 39th Kodansha Manga awards, according to Optimal Otaku.

A later release date will give the manga a head start in the story, and enough material for a full season to build on. If second season also gets 24 episodes, the anime can easily catch up with the manga. A typical anime episode packs at least two manga chapters.

Netflix has picked up the anime series, and the first season will be added to their streaming library starting Nov. 1, according to Forbes. This will be Netflix' second exclusive anime series, after picking up space sci fi, "Knights of Sidonia."
