Jellyfish Entertainment is not taking online abuse lying down after it received reports of malicious comments and harsh accusations hurled at Gu9ugan. The entertainment agency is currently reviewing the reports and will seek legal action to take the online commenters to task.

The statement issued by Jellyfish posted on Gu9gudan's fan café, they said they are diligently checking possible actions to be taken against user accounts that have been spreading malicious and false information about Gu9udan. The online attacks reportedly happened because some fans believe that I.O.I's Kim Sejung should not have become a part of Gu9udan, Soompi reported.

Many of the malicious comments were directed at the management itself, saying the label made a horrible choice in putting Sejung in the group when she could have worked better as a solo act. Other comments hinted that Gu9udan should be disbanded and that the label should instead focus on the trio of Kim Na Young, Kang Mina, and Kim Se Jung as a trio.

"What I don't understand is that Jellyfish made Se Jung promote in Gugudan but she doesn't really stand out in the group right now," one of the commenters said. "They would've seen better outcomes if they made Se Jung stand out more. You know many tuned into Gugudan to see Se Jung."

Gu9udan, which debuted with the mini-album "Act. 1: The Little Mermaid" featuring "Wonderland" initially did very well on the Gaon charts and even in Taiwan. However, amid the strong competition on the comeback scene, the nine-member group has found it difficult to keep up with the competition.

Gu9udan has been on the receiving end of criticisms for the lukewarm reception to their comeback album "Act. 2 Narcissus" which features the title track "A Girl Like Me." The group has been criticized as a flop group by harsh commenters.
