Entertainment Agencies Pick BTS & TWICE As Best K-pop Idol Groups

Entertainment agencies have spoken. And their top picks for best male and female K-pop groups are BTS and TWICE.

It doesn't really come as a surprise because BTS and TWICE has been performing well in terms of sales and chart rankings in Korea in various parts of the world. As a matter of fact, BTS has been performing to sold out stadiums for their "The Wings" world tour and in some countries are even causing organizers to book extra nights because of popular demand. TWICE is also doing quite well overseas with their TWICEland series of shows.

According to SBS Pop Asia, the survey was conducted among 20 of the top agencies in Korea including BTS' label Big Hit Entertainment and TWICE handlers JYP Entertainment. Among the agencies who joined the survey were Amoeba Culture, Brand New Music, Cube Entertainment, GYM Entertainment, Happy Robot Record, Jellyfish Entertainment, MBK Entertainment, Mystic Entertainment, Pledis Entertainment, RBW, Santa Music, Starship Entertainment, SM Entertainment, Star Empire, Widmay Entertainment, Woollim Entertainment and YG Entertainment.

BTS topped the survey with 18 out of 20 votes while TWICE got 17 out of 20 votes in a survey conducted by Sports Chosun. According to entertainment reps, BTS became the top group because its members are able to connect with their target market through tailor-made content. This ability to know what the fans want and deliver on these demands is what sets them apart from other groups.

In an interview with BTS leader Rap Monster by Idolator, he said that the members are involved in every aspect of production from writing songs, to producing them and even the creatives. He said they draw inspiration from experiences of the people their age and combine different types of music to come up with a different sound.

Meanwhile, TWICE's strength lies in its diversity that appeals to a range of audience. Fans feel connected to the members because they represent different types of people and personalities. Their upbeat songs are also fun and relatable, making them sustainable.
