'The Originals Season 4' Spoilers: Klaroline May Happen But Not Yet, Says Show Creator

With "The Vampire Diaries" ending with Stefan's death and an epilog that showed Klaus contacting Caroline through a letter, fans of The Vampire Diaries and its spinoff "The Originals" are hoping that "Klaroline" will finally happen. While the doors have closed on Mystic Falls, shippers believe that the door is flung wide open in New Orleans to continue the romance.

According to a report by Romper, it would make sense for Caroline to travel to New Orleans to meet up with "The Originals'" Mikaelson clan, especially now that they are in dire need of help after power was wrested away from them by Marcel and new threats arise with each magical clan. At the end of "The Vampire Diaries", Caroline also remained as the only vampire in Mystic Falls seeing as everybody has reverted back to their human selves.

The report also pointed out that Klaus' letter did not bear a date so it could happen at any point in the future. Klaus' message also gave fans hope that Caroline may eventually move to "The Originals" when he said "I look forward to thanking you in person one day. However long it takes," in reference to their immortality.

Aside from Stefan dying at the end of "The Vampire Diaries", it should be noted that Klaus also lost his romantic interest Cami last season, leaving a good opportunity to pursuing the Klaroline ship. However, it would seem that fans would have to wait for another season before any potential meeting happens between Carline and Klaus in "The Originals Season 4."

In an interview with series creator Julie Plec with The Hollywood Reporter, she pointed out that Klaus and Caroline's timelines do not match up as of the moment so it would be difficult to push a crossover for Caroline right now. She, however, said that Matt will be appearing in an episode of "The Originals" this season which would test the potential of developing another The Vampire Diaries spinoff should "The Originals" end with Season 4.

With Plec not completely dismissing the possibility, Klaroline shippers will have to wait with bated breath whether the writers could reconcile Klaus and Caroline's timelines to see if sparks will still fly between the two vampires. It could happen in "The Originals" Season 5 or the new spinoff but shippers definitely won't be choosy so long as they get their wish.
