War For The Planet Of The Apes is set to hit theaters in July 2017

"War For The Planet Of The Apes" has begun production, and to mark the first day of filming, Director Matt Reeves tweeted a photo of the set on Oct. 17.

The photo seen shows a silhouette of two actors; one wearing a motion-capture suit along the beach and the other on horseback, reported by Tech Times.

This picture may be familiar to fans who have followed  the franchise in 1968, the year the first film was released.

Apes die-hard fans might recall a significant scene in the original Planet Of The Apes when Charles Heston's character, George Taylor, sees a wrecked Statue of Liberty. He realizes that he's standing on a destroyed earth disguised as an unknown planet. "Damn you! Damn you all to hell!" cries Taylor upon his realization.

The next installment of "Planet Of The Apes" is in production; and as it moves forward, an additional two actors have been cast as apes, says IGN.

The first is Judy Greer. She returns as Cornelia,  the wife of Caesar (Andy Serkis) as revealed by the Hollywood Reporter. Aleks Paunovic who appeared in SyFy's Continuum, and The CW's Zombie is also joining as a new ape. The ape's identity is yet to be revealed, according to Deadline.

The rest of the cast includes Steve Zahn, and Andy Serkis, still as Ceasar. Also, cast as War For The Planet Of The Apes humans are Gabriel Chavarria from East Los High, and Woody Harrelson who is seen on Zombieland and True Detective.

During an interview with MTV, Andy Serkis was asked about the setting for the third film installment.  "I know that part of the desire for Matt Reeves to do this next movie is about continuing the enjoyment of seeing these apes evolve", as seen on IMDb.

War For The Planet Of The Apes, penned by Mark Bomback and Matt Reeves is currently filming in Vancouver, Canada. The film is set to hit theaters in July 2017.
