Not so long ago, gadget lovers came to know about Samsung Galaxy S8 launch date to be delayed. The rumors claimed that Samsung is working on improving features to avoid the disaster of S7. However, turns out that Samsung may not be able to hold up against the competition coming from Apple iPhone 8.

Before Samsung announced the big plans for S8, Apple iPhone 8 had confirmed plans of introducing a larger display. Additionally, Apple plans to do away with the home button in iPhone 8 but it will keep the fingerprint scanner. They plan to embed the scanner in the display.

On the other hand, Samsung will not be including the fingerprint scanner in the Galaxy S8 model. This may end up as a major disappointment for the fans.

Samsung had no choice

According to a report on The Investor, Samsung may have had no choice but to ditch the fingerprint scanner. Even though Samsung wanted to keep it, they may not have had the time to work out its placement in the larger display model. Samsung has partnered with Synaptics to develop the feature.

Samsung Galaxy S8 faces tough competition, not just from Apple but from Nokia and others as well. Therefore, it is important for them to bring out the model on time.

This could be one reason that compelled Samsung to do away with the fingerprint scanner in the Galaxy S8 model. However, Samsung has chosen to compensate the loss with an iris scanning solution and a face recognition option. Reports on BGR hint at the possibility of including these features.

Apple also has a tough challenge

Apple is yet to confirm the inclusion of the fingerprint scanner and is likely to face a tough challenge to come out with the same. After all, if Apple has indeed chosen to embed the scanner on the screen, they need to figure out how to make it transparent.
