Jay Z Tidal News; Tidal X: 10/20 Concert Done; Featured Jam Session-Styled Performances!

Jay Z's recent purchase is subscription based, music streaming service Tidal

Early this year, mogul Shawn Carter aka Jay Z, quietly acquired music streaming service Tidal for $54 million. It's a subscription-based service that combines high fidelity lossless sound quality, high definition music videos, and editorial and exclusive content.

Tidal is previously owned by the Aspiro Group, a media technology company founded in 1998. They are headquartered in Oslo, Norway; With operations in Sweden Denmark, Poland, and Germany.

Their library has over 75,000 music videos and has over 30 million tracks. Majority of the company is owned by artists such as Beyonce, Madonna, Usher, Rihanna, Kanye West, Alicia Keys, and Nicki Minaj, according to Amsterdam News.

Within the music streaming business, Tidal offers the highest percentage of royalties to music artists and writers.

A massive charity concert filled with superstars was held at the Barclays center on October 20. The show was equivalent to a streaming experience, only it's a live show.

The concert Tidal X :10/20 Amplified by HTC's objectives is, to celebrate 1 million subscribers, and to promote a new HTC phone. Tidal wants also to donate to "nonprofit organizations dedicated to advancing positive community relations and effecting systematic change for the development and sustainability of just societies", reported by The Verge.

Heavyweights in the music industry jammed session-style that night.

Seen were Beyonce, Usher, T.I., Nas, Nick Jonas, Rick Ross, Lil Wayne, Meek Mill, Damian Marley, French Montana, Vic Mensa, Bas, DJ Khaled, Thomas Rhett, Indochine, Alessia Cara, Nicki Minaj and Brooklyn natives Justine Skye, Flatbush Zombie and Fabolus.

By the live and social media consensus, the highlights of the night was the faceoff duet of "Feelin' Myself," with Beyoncé and Nicki Minaj, Reuters said.

Tidal is up against companies like Apple, Pandora and the leader in streaming music, Spotify.

During their free trial period, Apple attracted 11 million members since their June 30 launch.
