‘The Vampire Diaries’ Series Finale Spoilers: Damon Not Ready To Face Elena; Showrunner Teases Stefan, Caroline, Bonnie’s Fate
One of the CW's long-running series will soon end with "The Vampire Diaries" set to close its final chapter after eight seasons. Recently, showrunner Julie Plec shared some interesting details about Damon (Ian Somerhalder) and Elena (Nina Dobrev), Stefan (Paul Wesley) and Caroline (Candice King), as well as Bonnie (Kat Graham) and Enzo (Michael Malarkey).
Viewers should look forward to several exciting and emotional scenes in the upcoming "The Vampire Diaries" series finale. Latest spoiler news teased of Damon and Elena's impending reunion with the said Salvatore brother taken by surprise with his girlfriend's sudden awakening. In an interview with TV Guide, Plec mentioned that although the long-awaited reunion will be a happy event, Damon will feel apprehensive about the said situation.
"The Vampire Diaries" showrunner explained that Damon will feel disconcerted with his girlfriend's return given the many things that he promised himself he will do to transform into a man deserving of Elena's love. With the said character's untimely awakening from her sleeping curse, Damon will realize that "he's not quite ready for [Elena's return] yet."
Apart from Damon and Elena's reunion, Plec also shared her thoughts about Stefan and Caroline's marriage in "The Vampire Diaries" Season 8. Given Stefan's humanity and Caroline's immortality, the newly married couple's future remains unknown. Plec mentioned that the said aspect of the two characters' relationship will be something that both would have to endure and live with every day.
Meanwhile, Bonnie and Enzo will always have an "otherworldly connection" with each other even in death, according to "The Vampire Diaries" showrunner. Declining to provide details about Bonnie's fate, Plec stated that said couple's love can even be described as eternal.
At this time, it is still unclear whether Bonnie's death will lead to Elena's awakening. However, a teaser clip for the upcoming "The Vampire Diaries" series finale posted on Entertainment Tonight unveiled a clue to Elena's return which is linked to Bonnie's demise.
In the said clip, Damon and Stefan arrived at the Salvatore house to find Elena's casket open and empty. Surprised at the said scene, Damon remained speechless while Stefan revealed that Bonnie had a momentary brush with death. The said Salvatore brother stated, "Earlier Bonnie's heart stopped. She said she saw Elena."
