KCON 2017: BTS, EXID, Red Velvet To Jumpstart Event In Mexico; Festival Heads To Japan, US, Australia
The annual event that brought several Kpop stars and introduced the South Korean culture to various countries will soon hold its fifth global celebration. KCON 2017 is set to jumpstart its five-region music festival in Mexico that will feature several musicians such as BTS, EXID, Red Velvet and more.
The KCON 2017, an annual convention that promotes Kpop and other interesting facets of the South Korean culture to the world, will soon open its fifth global festival with a two-day event in Mexico. In an announcement released by the event's organizer, as obtained by Korea Herald, CJ E&M shared that Mexican fans can look forward to two days filled with meet-and-greet events, dance sessions, Korean food tasting activities and more.
The Mexican leg of the KCON 2017 will be held at the Mexico City Arena on March 17 and March 18, according to CJ E&M. The event's evening performances will feature some of Kpop's talented and famous artists with EXID, BTS and NCT 127 headlining the first-day music event, while Red Velvet, Astro and Monsta X will handle the second-day concert.
After Mexico, KCON 2017 will head over to Japan's Makuhari Messe for a three-day event. Located in Chiba, the said Kpop and Hallyu festival will run from May 19 until May 21.
American fans can look forward to seeing some of their favorite South Korean artists with two events. The U.S. leg of KCON 2017 will be held at New Jersey's Prudential Center on June 23 until June 24 and a three-day run beginning Aug. 18 until Aug. 20 at the Los Angeles Convention Center. Meanwhile, the final leg of the global Kpop and Hallyu celebration will be held in Australia although details of the said event have yet to be revealed.
In other news, BTS fans from different parts of the world will soon see the said Kpop group in their upcoming "Wings" world concert tour. The seven-member band's agency, BigHit Entertainment, recently unveiled additional tour stops that will have the group visiting several Asian countries, Soompi reported.
BTS is already set to hold concerts in Chile, Brazil, and America beginning mid-March until early April. Given the additional performance dates, the Kpop band will be traveling to Thailand, Indonesia, the Philippines, Hong Kong and Australia towards the latter part of April until late May.
