‘Once Upon A Time’ Season 6: Snow, Charming To Face Intense Emotional Battle, Showrunners Talk Regina’s ‘Curve Ball’

Beloved characters of the ABC fantasy series "Once Upon a Time" Season 6 are set to face several daunting challenges that could change their lives forever. Latest spoiler news teased of an impending emotional upheaval in Snow (Ginnifer Goodwin) and Charming's (Josh Dallas) relationship, while Regina (Lana Parrilla) will have to deal with the Wish Realm version of her deceased beau Robin (Sean Maguire).

The midseason finale of "Once Upon a Time" Season 6 featured a surprise encounter between Regina and Robin which led to the said Storybrooke character and Emma missing their chance to leave the Wish Realm. Aired in early December 2016, the said episode marked that start of Regina's journey into an alternate version of the Fairy Tale Land where Snow and Charming vanquished the Evil Queen (Parilla) and residents lived a happy life.

Given the presence of the Wish Realm Robin, Regina and Emma's sojourn into the said world became a complicated visit. In an interview with TVLine, showrunners Adam Horowitz and Eddy Kitsis commented how Regina became overwhelmed with emotion at seeing a living version of her deceased beau. Kitsis even described Robin as an unexpected "curve ball" that will become one of the obstacles that might delay Regina and Emma's quest to find a way back to Storybrooke.

Moreover, the "Once Upon a Time" showrunners mentioned how Snow and Charming's Sleeping Curse will lead to the couple experiencing several challenges in their relationship. Kitsis stated that the said two characters will have to deal with "a lot of emotional upheavals" in upcoming episodes. He added, "What's great is they're probably the strongest couple in all fairy tale lore, so to see them handle the stuff being thrown at their family is fun to write, and fun to watch."

Viewers can expect to see heart-wrenching scenes from Snow and Charming as they try to handle their separation given the Sleeping Curse, including with Charming's attempts to keep his family and loved ones safe at Storybrooke. Meanwhile, Ginnifer Goodwin told Entertainment Weekly that the couple will be able to find a way to break the said curse and even teased that the said scene will be an emotional moment.

"Once Upon a Time" Season 6 will return to the small screens after a two-month break. The ABC series' midseason premiere will air on March 5, Sunday.
