Microsoft has announced a new program that will let any aspiring game developer create and sell games on its Xbox platform. It's called the Xbox Live Creators Program and it serves as a development kit that can be used as a way to publish video games in the Xbox marketplace.

Back in the day, game developers had to be part of a game company or they have to apply in Microsoft's ID@Xbox indie game program in order to publish game titles. But thanks to the Xbox Live Creators Program, things can be done a lot smoother. Several stipulations are made by Microsoft regarding the new program which is still in the preview stage as reported by The Verge.

The game that people will make using the Xbox Live Creators Program would be a Universal Windows App which will run on any Windows 10 device. Games that have harmful and inappropriate content will be removed by Microsoft. Another stipulation states that the company won't require game developers to a binding non-disclosure agreements or pending concept approvals.

According to Gamespot, thanks to the Xbox Live Creators Program the Windows 10 store and Xbox One store may suddenly see an arrival of new games. The program will also allow anyone to make Universal Windows Platform games and incorporate Xbox live features. It will include stats, leaderboards, Live sign-in and GameDVR and the Creator Program games will become available through a new section on the Xbox One store.

Game developers can now have their game title exposed to every Xbox One owner that includes the Xbox One family of devices. Director of Microsoft's independent developer program Chris Charla said that hundreds of millions of Windows 10 PCs and people who are using the Xbox app on mobile platforms could become potential customers for your new game. This also includes Project Scorpio just in time for the holiday season.
