‘Arrow’ Season 5 Spoilers: Felicity's Dark Journey To Bring Her Closer To Oliver

"Arrow" Season 5 gave viewers a look at a different side of Felicity (Emily Bett Rickards) with Team Arrow's tech genius going back to her hacktivist days and partnering with a mysterious organization. However, the said character's dark path will help form a deeper bond between Felicity and Oliver (Stephen Amell).

Felicity has been one of Team Arrow's most valued members, not only because of her tech skills but her ability to go head-to-head with Oliver where she sometimes becomes the voice of reason. However, "Arrow" Season 5 showed viewers just how bad she can be by using underhanded tactics especially if it meant saving one of her friends or defeating villains.

Avid fans of the CW show can expect to see more of Felicity's darker side in upcoming episodes. The said character's journey can even be compared to Oliver's time on the island. "Arrow" showrunner Wendy Mericle told TVLine that they planned a story arc for the tech genius where she would have to go on a similar path as Oliver before he became the Green Arrow.

Mericle added that the experience will benefit Felicity in a way that could bring her closer to her former fiancé. The showrunner stated, "We really wanted to take her to place where she would sort of understand Oliver in a more profound way."

Meanwhile, Amell recently shared his thoughts about Felicity and Oliver's relationship. Given the two characters' long history together that included a failed engagement and the Green Arrow (Amell) accidentally killing the tech genius' boyfriend Detective Malone (Tyler Ritter), the actor told Entertainment Weekly that it may take some time before the former couple re-establish their strong working rapport with each other.

Amell even teased of the two characters' potentially rekindling their romance. He commented on how Felicity and Oliver might be able to mend their relationship and become lovers again.
