PlayStation 5 News, Specs & Updates: Sony's Latest Gaming Console To Launch 2018; The Latest Predictions Revealed
PlayStation 5 rumors are heating up again especially now when Microsoft is planning to launch Xbox Scorpio soon. The company has always tried to keep up with the competition and if the PlayStation 4 Pro is any indication, they are going to look for a way to ensure that Xbox will not take over their market share. The latest rumors are hinting that the new gaming console from Sony is going to be so much better than the current one and the earliest date gamers can expect it is in 2018.
Sony did not confirm any plans on launching another upgrade on their gaming console so soon although a PlayStation 5 is a sure thing. Given the current performance of its gaming devices, an upgrade would be necessary or else the company will be beaten by its competitors. For the new PlayStation, players can expect a 4K resolution, the same feature that is rumored to be in Microsoft Xbox Scorpio.
As to the release date, expecting the PlayStation 5 this year would just be too optimistic as the Pro version just hit the shelves a year ago. Given the timeline, Sony will launch a major update in two or three years from their last launch. If the company sticks to that timeline, 2018 would be a good time to expect the new device. Meanwhile, PlayStation 4 just released a list of their free games for March 2017.
Virtual reality is definitely a big deal but it is still unknown whether PS5 will have support for VR gaming. Needless to say, Sony seems to be committed to providing the latest gaming updates to its avid fans. However, there are strong rumors that the company is going to support backward compatibility which is one feature fans are hoping to see in the upgraded version of Sony's gaming console. At the moment, there is no concrete word on what PlayStation 5 is going to be but Sony would certainly drop hints soon.
