2PM Jun.K Stage Accident Breeds Malicious Posts; JYP Entertainment Warns Legal Action
The stage accident involving 2PM's Jun.K bred malicious comments online that the boy band's management agency JYP Entertainment now warned to take legal action against the libelous remarks. The label deemed to flex their legal muscles and not to tolerate netizens spreading malicious content. Their unyielding stance, the company explained, is for the benefit of 2PM and Jun.K himself.
According to Soompi, JYP Entertainment made the announcement Tuesday, two days after the stage accident that took place during a 2PM concert. This also happened to be enough time for netizens to throw their comments online or worse, spread gossips and misinformation. The label stated, "We have determined that the degree of these malicious comments and posts are too severe to be overlooked, as they cause further harm to the artists, their families, and fans who are already hurting from Jun.K's unexpected injury. We are informing that we will take strong action [as described] in order to protect the personal rights and mental health of our artists."
The malicious posts were reportedly triggered after the stage accident. 2PM's Jun.K fell off an almost 10 feet high moving platform Sunday in the middle of the boys' "6 Nights" concert. Jun.K was immediately rushed to the hospital where he's now resting and under observation. He underwent surgery for the fractures in his right elbow and right hand's fourth finger.
JYP Entertainment announced they would be canceling 2PM's upcoming concerts slated Friday to Sunday. They promised to give fans a refund for what were supposed to be 2PM's final project as a complete group before Jun.K and Taecyeon enlist in the military. They also promised to keep the worried fans updated on the idol's condition as the agency apologized "for not guaranteeing" their artist's safety. The stage accident happened shortly before former 2PM member Jay Park exposed the physical abuse he observed under JYP Entertainment.
