Politics in South Korea have always received its fair share of haters, however, one citizen might have gone too far to the point of sabotaging a speech and hurting one's self.

Recently, an elderly man has expressed his discontentment towards the government by stabbing himself while the Seoul mayor, Park Won Soon, is having his speech at the city hall. The speech was for an opening of an exhibition for Frank W. Schofield -- a British-Canadian veterinarian who have resided in Korea from 1916 - 1920 and has became a part of the country's freedom from the Japanese Empire in 1910 - 1945.

According to Koreaboo, the said incident happened on a Friday, at around 10 in the morning. The elderly man, a 79-year-old, was under the influence of alcohol, as reported by the witnesses when the incident took place. At the time being, mayor Park Won Soon is having his speech when the man with a weapon came into the scene and has been yelling prior to hurting himself. "Can you say you are a mayor?" the man said. "I need to die!"

The elderly man's exact motive is yet to be identified, however, some reports suggest that Lee has been in dispute with a district office. They said that the local government has decided not to pursue a development of a certain project. The amount of compensation needed for the development turned out to be lesser than what is expected, probably making the old man agitated.
Lee, who was said to be the head of the development committee, was immediately rushed to a nearby hospital for emergency services. Fortunately, the stab he gave to himself was not fatal, as officials said. In fact, he is now in stable condition.
After the incident, the police said that they are developing further investigation of what happened.
