‘Shadowhunters’ Season 2 Spoilers: Clary's Link With Valentine Pushes Her To Darker Path

Beloved characters in the Freeform series "Shadowhunters" will soon be faced with a difficult challenge given the unveiling of Clary's (Katherine McNamara) link to Valentine's (Alan Van Sprang) plans. With Valentine set to conquer the world, Clary may be forced to choose between saving her loved ones to becoming a pawn in her father's villainous quest.

"Shadowhunters" Season 2 might soon feature a tense encounter between Clary and Valentine. With Valentine adamant to defeat his enemies and take control of the world, Clary's key role in her father's plans will push other Downwolders to kill her in order to stop the said villain.

Given Clary's ability to activate the Soul Sword, the realization that Valentine somehow made into an instrument of evil will affect the said protagonist negatively. McNamara told Entertainment Weekly that her character will become devastated in learning that she has a dark side.

The actress also highlighted that Clary's internal struggles will mirror the journey that Jace (Dominic Sherwood) went through in the early part of "Shadowhunters" Season 2. Fighting with the darkness that is within Clary will form part of the said character's challenges in upcoming episodes, according to McNamara.

Before Clary can reach the difficult part of her journey, she would be able to enjoy a few moments of happiness with her new beau, Simon (Alberto Rosende). However, the said happy moments will not last given Clary and Valentine's impending clash.

Meanwhile, the upcoming "Shadowhunters" Season 2 episode 9 titled "Bound by Blood" will mark the beginning of Clary's attempts to hide from Valentine to prevent the said villain from using her for his plans. Apart from her father, Clary will also try to hide from Downworlders who are out to end her life, according to episode spoilers posted on Spoilers Guide.

Adding to Clary's challenges would be her blood oath with Iris (Stephanie Belding) where she has to save the said warlock's god-daughter Madzie (Ariana Williams). Captured by Valentine, Clary may have no choice but to seek out her father to get Madzie back.
