Avid Girls Generation fans have been eagerly anticipating the Kpop group's return to the South Korean music industry. Recently, reports of the group's impending comeback became viral although SM Entertainment quickly clarified the said speculations.

Girls Generation is one of the veteran girl groups in South Korea. Having officially debuted in August 2007, many fans have been hoping to see the Kpop group return to the music scene for a new project to celebrate their upcoming tenth year anniversary. Several South Korean news outlets even claimed that said girl group is slated to stage a comeback towards the end of July.

However, Girls Generation's agency SM Entertainment debunked the said comeback reports, Soompi reported. The entertainment firm explained that plans for the Kpop group's return to the music industry have yet to be decided. It is also unclear whether preparations for the band's upcoming tenth anniversary is still in the early stages or if the celebration will involve a special concert.

Meanwhile, one of the said Kpop group's members teased of the band's potential new album release. In an interview with The Star magazine, as cited by All Kpop, Sunny mentioned that Girls Generation is preparing a new album that will be unveiled sometime 2017.

Apart from the new album, the Kpop idol also commented on her wish to perform a ballad with her fellow Girls Generation members. However, she highlighted that the said endeavor might be challenging given the complicated song arrangement for a group that has several singers.

Sunny also shared her thoughts on the number of Kpop groups that recently disbanded. Describing the said situation as disappointing, the Girls Generation singer even recounted how various girl bands previously shared special moments together where each group opened up about their apprehensions.

Girls Generation's last comeback happened in 2015 when they released "Lion Heart." Some of the Kpop group's members have since explored solo careers as singers or actresses.
