Angelina Jolie Planning Hollywood Comeback With ‘Maleficent 2,’ Other Projects Amidst Custody Battle With Brad Pitt
Angelina Jolie may soon return to the big screens to reprise her titular character in "Maleficent 2." Despite her ongoing custody battle with estranged husband Brad Pitt, the actress is adamant to jump back into the Hollywood entertainment industry with a new production.
Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt's separation has been a messy affair given earlier claims of the actor physically abusing one of their children, along with the former Hollywood couple's complicated custody battle. With legal proceedings happening in the background, the two celebrities kept themselves busy by promoting new movies while balancing separate family time with the children.
Given the upcoming release of Jolie's new directorial film "First They Killed My Father," the actress is already looking through several offers and potential movie projects. Sources told "The Hollywood Reporter," that some of the offers that landed on the actress' plate included the Disney sequel "Maleficent 2," a period espionage drama titled "The Spy Who Loved," as well as an adaptation of "Catherine the Great and Potemkin: The Imperial Love Affair" by Simon Sebag Montefiore.
Apart from acting roles, the "Salt" actress also has several directorial and producing projects such as Disney's "The One and Only Ivan" where she joined the film as a producer. She might also helm the movie "Without Blood" as its director.
At this time, Angelina Jolie has yet to pin down the projects that she will tackle in the coming months. The last time that fans saw the actress on the big screen was in the 2015 movie "By the Sea" where she starred alongside her now estranged husband Brad Pitt.
Meanwhile, the "Tomb Raider" star recently opened up about her divorce from the "Fight Club" actor. In an interview with BBC News, as cited by People, she shared that her focus has been to take care of the children despite the difficult situation.
Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt announced their separation in September 2016. The former Hollywood couple shares six children namely twins Vivienne and Knox, Shiloh, Zahara, Pax and Maddox.
