This new Korean variety show infuriates the netizen because of its content. The title Namwon Sangsa literally means "male vitality increasing company." So what does this show promote? According to reports, it is about men who want to take revenge on women.
Shin Dong Yup, Kim Jun Ho, and Jang Dong Min would be the masters of ceremonies of this new Korean variety show. While the aims gain a negative attention from the public, Jang Dong Min's "misogynistic comments" in the past affected the response of the South Koreans.
Some of the netizens, both men, and women alike raised their eyebrows regarding its tagline. The new Korean variety show, which will be out in April caused a stir among the public. Did the upcoming show really want to stand against the opposite gender?
TV network XTM that will launch the new Korean variety show, Namwon Sangsa, explained that the netizens misunderstood the real meaning behind the show's advertisements. The upcoming variety series also encourages the men to unite against oppressive women and build a "male territory." "It's a program to support men who are exhausted by this generation, and it was planned to help understand men and also foster understanding between men and women," the statement reads, via All K-Pop.
"We think the expressions that we used to try to humorously deliver the message of the program caused some misunderstanding. We will be more careful in planning so we could create a program that can be resonated with," the representatives from the new Korean variety show explained further.
Aside from Namwon Sangsa, which will be one of the new Korean variety show to watch out for in 2017, fans must be eager to know the lineup for other Korean television shows for this year. The Jakarta Post revealed the up and coming Korean dramas by One TV Asia and they are the following: Innocent Defendant, I'm Sorry but I Love You, Ghost, Remember, The Women's Room, among others.
