Avid "Suits" viewers may soon see a fan-favorite character return to the small screens. Latest spoiler news teased of a "Suits" spin-off drama currently in development that will focus on Gina Torres' iconic character Jessica Pearson.

Gina Torres was one of the original cast members of the USA Network legal drama "Suits." Released in 2011, the actress portrayed the stylish and formidable Jessica Pearson, one of the partners at the law firm named Pearson Specter Litt. However, the Hollywood star left halfway through the series' Season 6.

Given the show's Canada filming location coupled with the actress' need to remain close to her family living in Los Angeles, Torres has had to let go of her role in "Suits." Her character was written out of the show with Pearson deciding to leave her high-profile job in New York to start a new life in Chicago.

It appears that Torres' character Pearson may soon appear in a "Suits" spin-off drama. The said project is currently being developed for USA Network, according to TVLine. However, neither the production studio behind "Suits" nor its showrunners have commented on the said news.

Moreover, the "Suits" spin-off drama will also be created by the original show's creator Aaron Korsh, Deadline reported.  The showrunner is expected to manage both projects should the USA Network bosses decide to greenlight the Pearson-focused series.

At this time, the potential new series is still in its infancy. Negotiations and meetings are still in its early stages, while the "Suits" spin-off plot has yet to be finalized.

It is also unclear if Gina Torres was already approached for the said project. Shortly after leaving "Suits," she signed up to join "The Catch" Season 2 that is set to premiere on March 9, Thursday, on ABC. Apart from the said series, she also received several offers from various productions.

Meanwhile, "Suits" Season 6 is nearing the end of its 16-episode saga. However, the USA Network series will soon be back for its Season 7 run.
