Suzy Bae Lured JYP Casting Agent With Her God-Given Gift
Suzy Bae's casting agent said she was lured by the JYP artist when she discovered her in Gwangju province eight years ago. A JYP scout revealed on the latest episode of "Off the Record: Suzy" what made her decide to take the then 15-year-old unknown Suzy for auditions to JYP Entertainment.
The 22-year-old singer-actress took a walk down to memory lane when she visited JYP casting manager Kim Hyun Kyung at the company's rookie team office. This was the same casting agent who scouted Suzy which launched the beginner of her successful career with JYP.
"I was about to give up on trying to cast trainees when you showed up," revealed Kim Hyun Kyung. "Your hair was all tied up and you clothes were like a boy's. But I was lured in by your pretty face."
Suzy also fondly recalled that fateful moment that's now part of K-Pop history. She said, "She was really persistent. I had to wait for 8 hours to finally audition and she waited right until the end with me."
They both delved into Suzy's audition profiles and even revealed Suzy's audition video. "Is this really me?!" exclaimed the Miss A member.
She also laughed out loud and applauded the casting manager who claimed to still occasionally watch over Suzy's audition videos. Suzy successfully launched her debut solo album last month and has also recorded a duet with MAKEUS' artist Park Won.
Her close ties with several artists from the management label MAKEUS and the fact that JYP still didn't make any statements about a contract renewal led industry experts to speculate that Suzy might choose not to renew her contract with JYP but move to MAKEUS instead.
This was what the defunct girl group Wonder Girls' Sunmi has done after their contract expired. Rumors also surfaced last year that Suzy would leave the girl group Miss A which JYP quickly denied.
