‘The Walking Dead’ Season 7: Norman Reedus Teases Daryl’s Revenge Journey, Talks Selfless Moment With Carol
Avid viewers of "The Walking Dead" Season 7 witnessed the highly-anticipated reunion between Daryl (Norman Reedus) and Carol (Melissa McBride) in the AMC zombie apocalyptic series' recent episode. Daryl might have only spent a few hours with Carol and even lied about the death of their friends, however, it was a move to protect Carol as he embarks on a revenge mission.
The second half of "The Walking Dead" Season 7 promises to feature a storyline that will have Rick (Andrew Lincoln) and his gang back in fighting form as they prepare for an impending battle with Negan (Jeffrey Dean Morgan). Given Daryl's escape from the Saviors camp, the Alexandria group left the crossbow wielding protagonist at the Kingdom to keep him safe and even asked him to convince King Ezekiel (Khary Payton) to join forces with Rick.
However, Daryl eventually left the Kingdom but not before reuniting with Carol who is living in an abandoned home just outside the said community's perimeter. Shown in "The Walking Dead" Season 7 episode 10, he assured Carol that everyone is safe back at Alexandria and decided to keep silent about Negan's victims and harsh ways.
In an interview with Entertainment Weekly, Reedus mentioned that Daryl sensed how Carol has been losing a part of herself and telling the truth at that moment was something that she would not have been able to handle. Described as a "selfless act" with Carol trying to distance herself from killing and violence, Daryl decided not to push her to join the fight given her fragile state, according to the actor.
When asked about Daryl's journey, Reedus shared that his character is adamant to revenge his friends' death. The actor stated, "He wants to kill people. He wants to fight and get this over with to get rid of these bad guys."
However, the said protagonist is in hiding mode at the moment given his escape from Negan's clutches. Reedus told Variety that although Daryl is not physically with Rick in Alexandria, his character will still try to contribute to the impending battle in his own way.
"The Walking Dead" Season 7 airs every Sunday on AMC.
