Jang Hyuk Promises To Rap With Yesung On Condition
Actor Jang Hyuk promised he'll rap with Super Junior's Yesung once his drama "Voice" beats the 8 percent threshold.
The 40-year-old actor, who once released a rap album under the name TJ Project (also known as The Jang Hyuk Project), vowed he'll rap with his current drama co-star if their viewership ratings even goes further up.
Jang Hyuk cracked everyone up during the press conference Wednesday for OCN's current drama "Voice" when he mentioned the 32-year-old Super Junior member taking a central role for his promised rap video.
The actor explained that he usually has a "TJ girl" for his "TJ project," casting reference to his "Hey Girl" music video in 2000 where Hallyu star Jun Ji Hyun played as the "TJ girl." Both stars also played onscreen couple in the blockbuster 2004 romantic comedy "Windstruck."
"This time I will do it with with Yesung, who will be a TJ boy," Soompi quoted Jang Hyuk as saying.
He also revealed why he ventured on rapping in the beginning of his career.
"I really do like action, but as an actor, I have an ambition to try a spectrum [of different works]," he said. "I've always wanted to be someone who doesn't have a specific image ever since I was young. Which is why I did the TJ project."
He added that he never planned the TJ project to be permanent.
"I didn't do the TJ project because I wanted to be a rapper," said Jang Hyuk. "Back then, you could create a certain image through music videos. I wanted to experiment with it because of that reason. I want to be an actor that shows the public a variety of different images."
Jang Hyuk achieved mainstream success through a series of box-office hit movies such as "Volcano High," "Jungle Juice," "Windstruck," "Please Teach Me English" and "The Flu."
According to allkpop, sources revealed that Jang Hyuk could return to the big screen as a blind swordsman for the film "Swordsman."
