NBA Trade News: Chris Birdman Andersen Was Sent To The Hornets; The Cavaliers Will Keep Derrick Williams And Will Acquire New Point Guard

Chris The Birdman Andersen has been traded to the Charlotte Hornets early Monday. The Cleveland Cavaliers received a protected top-55 second rounder that can be used to acquire new talent or a new backup point guard.

The ABC News confirmed that after being traded to the Charlotte Hornets, Chris Andersen was waived. The Cavaliers need to open up a spot on their roster that's why they really need to let go of the injured Chris Andersen.

After having a nightmare season, Chris Andersen finds himself at the Cavaliers bench for more than half of the season. Chris Andersen suffered on a torn right ACL December of 2016 and was ruled out for the rest of the season.

With this, the Cleveland Cavaliers now had some troubles in the big-man spot, leaving them with Tristan Thompson, Kevin Love, and Channing Frye as the Fox8 said in their report. The Cavaliers were forced to acquire new talent and eventually sign Derrick Williams to a 10-day contract.

The Cavaliers are currently dealing with an injury-plague roster as Iman Shumpert and J.R. Smith joined Andersen in the rehab. The Cavs superstar LeBron James has been in and out of the Cavs front office, suggesting to acquire new players especially a backup point guard for Kyrie Irving.

After the point guard tryout last week, the Cavs ended up signing Derrick Williams to a short contract. The Cavs were able to address a bigger problem which is their team rebounding.

Derrick Williams, known to be a lousy defender was able to impress the Cavaliers during his past games with them. LeBron James was very impressed that he even suggest to the Cavs management to keep Derrick Williams for the remainder of the season.

In the meantime, the Cavaliers now have an open spot to acquire a new point guard or new center that would replace Chris Andersen. Whatever their decision is, the team is sure to call a player that would definitely help them defend their title.
