Ben Simmons Will Not Play His NBA Debut This Season; Sixers Tend To Rest Simmons
The hopes of Ben Simmons to have his NBA debut this season is getting slim as the Philadelphia 76ers confirmed that they have no plans to play him. Ben Simmons is rumored to play this season after the All-Star Weekend as several reports said.
According to the Sydney Morning Herald, the Sixers head coach Brett Brown confirmed that they are not planning to play Ben Simmons on a 5-on-5 this All-Star break. This means that the chance of Ben Simmons to play this season is wearing off.
"It would be misleading," Brett Brown said as he answered the question if Simmons will be playing this season during an interview. Brett Brown and the Sixers camp want to make sure that Ben Simmons is fully recovered before sending him out of the court.
The Report said in their press release that Ben Simmons himself is now moving forward after he knew about the Sixers' plan to sit him out for the rest of the season. Simmons is currently spending several hours at the gym working out during the past few weeks of 2017.
Ben Simmons was also seen in a scrimmage with the Sixers squad last month as he played a 5-on-5 practice game. Most of the time, Simmons is doing some shootaround and shadow basketball.
Moreover, the Sixers will be playing their remaining 28 games after the All-Star Weekend, where most of the games will be played out of Philadelphia. During the past months, Simmons was not with them on their road games as the Sixers allowed him to rest well.
Ben Simmons and Joel Embiid are expected to be the hopes of the Sixers as they are both known to be a future superstar in the NBA. Several fans are waiting for Ben Simmons to help the rest of the cast to rally back in the NBA Playoffs.
