NBA Trade News: Sixers and Pelicans Discussing Potential Trade; Jahlil Okafor In Exchange For Alexis Ajinca

The Philadelphia 76ers have received several offers for Jahlil Okafor from different teams around the NBA, but they used to turn it down. Today, the Sixers are reportedly in the middle of discussion with the Pelicans to send Okafor.

A report from the Bleacher Report confirms that the Sixers and the Pelicans are currently in trade talks. The initial report says that the Sixers will be sending Jahlil Okafor in exchange for Alexis Ajinca and a future first-rounder.

In this way, the Sixers may seem to start fixing their logjam at the center position. Though Alexis Ajinca is also a middleman, compared to Jahlil Okafor, he Ajinca may not demand a lot of minutes. With Joel Embiid and Nerlens Noel on the roster, the Sixers will no longer have troubles dividing their playing time.

The New Orleans Pelicans are in search for another big man to support Anthony Davis down the post as per the HNHH. If acquired, Jahlil Okafor would be a great backup center to Davis since he can also score in the paint up to the perimeter.

Okafor is an undersized center with his 6'11" height, but he can also strongly play the power forward due to his strength. Jahlil Okafor is a potential star, though the guy needs to work on his defensive skills, his main asset is his offensive prowess where he can dominate the paint.

Jahlil Okafor is one of the fan favorite during his rookie season, that even several sports analysts believed that he may unleash his true potential this season. Unfortunately, Joel Embiid overshadowed him due to Okafor's lack of defensive strength, unlike Embiid who can play both defense and offense.
