‘Running Man’ Involved In Another Controversy? Yoo Jae Suk Threatens Legal Action Over False Taipei Event News
It appears that "Running Man" has gained the interest of unscrupulous individuals who are looking to take advantage of the SBS variety show's Taiwan fan meeting to be held on Feb. 10, Friday. Recently, Yoo Jae Suk's agency warned fans against companies or promoters who claimed that the comedian will join the said event.
"Running Man" is set to delight its avid viewers with a multi-Asian country fan meeting tour that includes Singapore, Malaysia, Thailand, Hong Kong and more. With Taiwan identified as its first stop, nearly all of the SBS show's cast members will attend the event except Yoo.
The comedian previously announced that he will be unable to join the said fan meeting due to a conflict in schedule. Despite Yoo's earlier announcement, several reports from Taipei contained confusing information about the said cast member's alleged participation and other promotional activities.
Yoo's agency recently released a statement, as obtained by Yonhap News, to clarify the false rumors, as well as warn local fans about potential fraudulent promo offers. FNC Entertainment explained that neither Yoo nor the agency appointed Taiwan affiliates or other companies to represent the South Korean TV personality for the event.
FNC Entertainment added that the agency is already collating information about the incident and other unlawful activities. Both Yoo and the said entertainment firm are not hesitant to file a legal case against individuals or companies who are spreading false rumors about the comedian, according to the agency.
In other news, Yoo nabbed the top spot of a brand reputation index that measures the popularity of South Korean variety show celebrities. For the period of Jan. 3 to Feb. 4, the "Running Man" star landed at first place with an overall brand reputation score of 1,246,206 points, according to the Korean Business Research Institute, as cited by Insight.
Meanwhile, "2 Day 1 Night" veteran Kim Jong Min came in a number two, followed by Kim Gura, Yang Se Hyung, and Jung Joon Ha. Yoo's fellow "Running Man" cast member Haha nabbed the sixth place, with Shin Dong Yup, Park Myung Soo, and Cha Tae Hyun landing the seventh to tenth spots, respectively.
"Running Man" airs every Sunday on SBS.
