BTOB’s Sungjae And Peniel Almost Sexually Harrassed By Aggressive Fans In Indonesia
BTOB's Sungjae and Peniel recently flew over to Indonesia where aggressive fans physically harassed them at the Sumatra airport.
Photos and videos of how the fans in the Indonesian airport mobbed the two idols quickly went viral as many netizens and BTOB fans known as Melodies condemned the actions of the aggressive crowd.
According to Koreaboo, Sungjae and Peniel visited the Southeast Asian country to film SBS' variety show "Laws of the Jungle."
The lack of security and the unexpected large crowd who showed up at the airport subjected the young idols into a warm welcome that quickly turned into a painful experience in the forms of physical harassment.
Some photos captured the fans grabbing, scratching and pulling their faces, grabbing their arms, shoving and pushing them and even groping their chests. Peniel was eventually captured with visible hand prints and red marks on his arm.
The two members looked both upset in some photos taken while they were at the airport. They looked happier when they arrived at their hotel where they were reportedly no longer harassed.
Korean netizens fumed over how the two stars were mistreated.
"Even though they're fans, they're strangers," allkpop quoted one netizen as saying. "It must be annoying to have people you don't touch your body. They must feel terrible."
"That is so bad. BTOB fans must be so upset. That's like to the point of sexual harassment," said another.
Sungjae became even more popular after he joined the record-breaking tvN series "Goblin."
He revealed on SBS "One Night of Entertainment" that he didn't even hesitate when he was offered a role in the drama.
"Upon receiving the casting offer for tvN's 'Goblin', I immediately accepted it without even looking at the script," said Sungjae.
He also shared how proud he was of his "Goblin" character.
"When I sit at a restaurant, I often hear people at the next table chatting about 'Goblin' and it makes me feel proud listening to them say that I'm good looking," he said.
