Judge Blocks Part of Trump’s Immigration Order

A U.S. federal judge today blocked part of the controversial temporary entry to citizens veto seven Muslim - majority countries with terrorist history imposed by the country 's president, Donald Trump. Judge Ann M. Donnelly, the Federal District Court in Brooklyn (New York), ruled that refugees or other persons affected by the measure and have reached US airports can not be deported.

In an emergency hearing, the magistrate responded to a lawsuit filed by the Union for Civil Liberties in America (ACLU) against the executive order signed by Trump on Friday, whose constitutionality she questioned. The ACLU, one of the organizations that defend civil rights most important in the country, made the demand after two Iraqi citizens with special visas to enter the US were held at JFK airport. According to ACLU, between 100 and 200 people have been detained on arrival at US airports since Trump signed the order on Friday, a week after his inauguration, although the government has not confirmed those figures.

The judge concluded that applying the president's mandate by sending those people to their countries could cause "irreparable damage," local media reported. However, Donnelly did not state that those affected can remain in the country or ruled on the constitutionality of the measure and scheduled a hearing for Feb. 21 to return to discuss the case.

Controversial executive order

The decree law suspends both the entry of all refugees for 120 days as the concession for 90 days visa to seven Muslim-majority countries with terrorist history - Sudan, Somalia, Syria, Iraq, Iran, Libya and Yemen, establishing new scrutiny mechanisms for other countries. That provisional veto today caused chaos and outrage among the world while they saw many travelers already blocked access to US territory and protests occurred at New York 's JFK airport and other parts of the US.

However, Trump said today that his government is "fully prepared" to implement the measure, which affects more than one hundred million people in the world. "It's working very well. You see it at airports, you see it everywhere, "insisted the New York magnate.
