It seems that American rock band Blink-182 will reveal new music sooner or later. Drummer Travis Barker revealed that he, along with remaining band-mate Mark Hoppus and Matt Skiba of Alkaline Trio, have recorded five new songs according to Rolling Stone.

Blink-182 didn't release new music since their last album "Neighborhoods," which was released in 2011. While they released a single titled "Dogs Eating Dogs" in 2012, the now two-piece band did not work on a possible new album in the last four years. Guitarist and vocalist Tom DeLonge has been informally dismissed from the band this year, with Matt Skiba currently "filling in" his spot.

Barker, 39, expressed his thoughts on Blink-182's new music: "Matt's killing it. He's fun to play with and write with. We're just getting started, but I think we've got like four or five songs right now that I'm really, really happy with."

He also noted additional details: "There's a song called 'Punk Rock Cliché' which I love the most right now. It's about friends of ours and their relationships."

Recording for Blink-182's new music was originally slated in January this year, with the band planning to hit the studio and record their 7th album. However, the scheduled has not been followed as DeLonge was busy with his project Angels & Airwaves and other personal commitments.

Meanwhile, Barker is currently promoting his memoir titled "Can I Say: Living Large, Cheating Death & Drums, Drums, Drums." He previously opened up on the plane crash incident in 2008 that left him badly burned with injuries. He was so depressed that he even offered money to his friends to end his life, which fortunately didn't happen according to Sky News.

With Blink-182 making new music now, could this mean the next album will be out soon enough?

Barker only commented: "[We just] write a bunch of songs, and when we feel like there's an album ready, there's an album ready. You know, no pressure, no deadlines."
