LG Proposed Paper-Thin Television

LG's 1mm OLED Wallpaper TV

LG surprised the CES, the largest consumer electronics fair in the world that takes place these days in Las Vegas, with a revolutionary television proposal. This OLED TV stood out for its huge size, 77 inches, and 4K playback quality. Although, what left all the attendees in awe was his extraordinary thinness. Just 2.57 mm thick, little more than a banknote or a sheet of paper.

Instead of screws, the screen, which has been called Signature OLED W, is anchored thanks to a magnetic system that eliminates the space between the TV and the wall. The "W" in its name, as explained David Vanderwaal, Vice President of Marketing, Home Appliances and Consumer Electronics LG, stands for its affinity of seeming to be a wallpaper fixed on the wall, as Daily Mail states.

The elegance of its design and the absence of cables resembles it more as a decoration piece rather than a high-end television. Combining design and functionality is, as the President of LG Iberia, James Jaraiz explained, one of the obsessions of the South Korean manufacturer, according to Extreme Tech.

The Signature OLED W is connected by a barely perceptible cable with an HDMI port bar and Dolby Atmos certified speakers that guarantee surround sound even though it is on the bottom of the TV. In addition, it will feature the new version of the WebOS operating system, which allows the user to stream video services like Netflix and Amazon video on their TV. Those who are thinking of filling the wall of their living room with this thin television will have to wait. The company did not disclose its price or date of sale to the public.
